Ex Chinese soldier living in No.2 lut. Wong Ka Yan also lived in that hut. y bunk is the one coloured green on the plan. Wong Ka Yan occupied the pink bunk and accused's bunk is coloured blue. These are double bunks. Early on morning of 30th May I heard a cry of 'save life'. That ory awakened me

about 5.30 m.m. It was about dawn & there were two electric

lights burning. I saw Wong Ka Yan, who was in the lower bunk,

in the act of rising. I saw accused beside the door on the

North side of the pink bunk. Wong Ka Yan got up & ran along the central passage towards the North, past my bunk marked green. Accused pursued him, about 2 feet behind him. As Wong Ka Yan ran past my bunk I saw he was bleeding. I jumped up & ran after them & near the end of the hut I seized accused,

throwing my arms round him. I then saw that he had this knife in his hand (Ex. B). I seized his hand & Ho Kam Sing toɑk the knife from him. When I was holding accused nobody said anything.

Accused said "He will die first & I will die afterwards".

That was when I was holding him. After he was disarmed accused

returned to his own bunk coloured blue. Next morning I went to

Kowloon Mortuary & identified body of wong Kan Yen in presence

of Insp.Carey.

When I heard the cry of 'save life' all the other people in the hut were asleep. I saw nobody move except deceased & accused. Lights are always kept burning until dawn. two lights were burning all night. When accused went to his

bunk there were a lot of people there. Li Kwong helped to

disarm accused, Li Kwong came after accused had spoken to me. I was not in same regiment as deceased nor was I a friend of his.

I only got to know him in the hut. During the chase along the passage no blows were struck. When I first saw deceased

I didn't notice if he had a blanket over him or not. His

Blanket was on the bed. There was no struɛɛle between deceased

& accused on accused's bed. When accused went to his bed deceased had already collapsed on the ground. It is not true that there was a struggle on accused's bed or that stabs were inflicted

there.
